On Wednesday, June 10th, 2015, the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds were held at St. Paul’s Hospital, and the MGM Interest Group was invited to present. Dr. Sheila Turris led the talk, and I was given the opportunity once again to “ride on her coat-tails” as we reviewed the Emerging Field of Mass Gathering and Event Medicine for this audience.
Acknowledging the many collaborators who have born the load of growing the program to date, we took a semi-chronological approach to telling the story of our program of research.
The core of the presentation was built around the progression of the team’s evolution from:
- Counting stuff, to
- Sorting stuff, to
- Explaining stuff, and finally
- Fixing stuff
So much more to do, but the future looks bright. We look forward to growing the team going forward. Thanks to Dr. Jim Christensen for inviting us, and St. Paul’s for hosting.
